2023 Bible Reading Plan

Tomorrow is the beginning of a brand new year, and many of us have new hopes and new habits that we are ready to set in motion. Whatever your goals, we all know that there are things in our lives that we need to alter or do better, and the New Year often gives us the spark of motivation that we need to actually implement these things.

With that in mind, we would like to invite you to join us in reading through the Bible together this year. Several of you have requested the Bible Reading Plan that we did back in 2021. We’ve heard you, and so that will be the plan we offer this year.

This plan takes you through the entire Bible in one year. You will read two chapters from the Old Testament and one chapter from the New Testament on each weekday and then read from the Old Testament and Psalms on the weekends.

Daily reading time? 10-15 minutes.

You can view this reading plan in PDF format here or follow along on the Unlimited Potential App. There is a Bible tab at the bottom of the App that provides each day's reading with an audio option if you'd prefer to listen to the reading instead. The PDF has also been formatted in a way that allows you to print out the plan on a single sheet of paper (front and back) that you can then fold in half and simply place right inside your Bible.

Here is some further information on how the plan is organized...

Old Testament Readings

We have reorganized all of the readings from the Old Testament (OT) in the original three-fold order found in the Hebrew Bible — the Law, the Prophets and the Writings (aka. TaNaK). Jesus actually references this three-fold order when he tells his disciples that, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law, the Prophets and the Writings must be fulfilled" (Luke 24:44).

We often forget that the Hebrew Bible (our OT) was the Bible of Jesus and his first followers so we hope that this plan gives you a fresh perspective and a new hunger to read and love the Old Testament.

New Testament Readings

We have reorganized all the readings of the New Testament (NT) in a way that takes continuity and chronology into consideration. The plan starts in the Gospels and keeps us in the Gospels up until Easter. Then it moves straight into the Book of Acts followed by Paul’s letters, John’s Gospel, the other NT letters and then finally the Book of Revelation.

We have rearranged Paul’s letters to better fit the order in which they were actually written, and John’s Gospel has been placed towards the end since it was one of the last NT books written.

Psalms, Poetry & Wisdom

We have included all of the readings from the Book of Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs in a way that spreads them out over the entire year. Each weekend, you will read from one of these four books in addition to an Old Testament reading. There will be no New Testament reading on the weekends.

How to Join Us

The Bible Reading Plan had been uploaded on the Unlimited Potential App. You can follow along in just 3 easy steps:

  1. Download / Open the App

  2. Click on the Bible tab at the bottom

  3. Click on Plan at the bottom of the screen

And that’s it.

For those of you who prefer old-school methods, we have also created a PDF that allows you to print out the plan on a single sheet of paper (front and back) that you can fold it in half and simply place right inside your Bible.

If you would like to read in community with others, please contact us or comment below and let us know. We would love to come alongside of you and connect you with others so that we can all go on this journey together. We started a great messaging thread on our app the last time we did this plan and can definitely set that up again.

Either way, we hope this Bible Reading Plan is helpful for this who decide to use it, and we hope all of you have a Happy New Year!

We’ll see you in 2023!
